When God told him that Babylonian captivity was His punishment for the sins of the country, Habakkuk’s faith never wavered. Here is his response:
“Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.”
In the book of Revelation an angel makes a pronouncement against Babylon which could be made against America very soon, “America the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.” To have the strength to face the tough times that are on us and the tougher ones to come, we need to make certain that our faith in the promises of God to those that call on the name of Jesus as Lord and Savior is as strong as the faith of Habakkuk.
